What you can do

I hope that some of my rantings may have inspired you to take action on climate change too. So here are a few things you can do.

Learn

– there’s a lot of confusion and misinformation out there about climate change which it is why it’s crucial to inform yourself about the facts. There are loads of resources on the net and some fantastic books try Heat by George Monbiot or Climate Code Red by Phillip Sutton and David Spratt for an appraisal of the problem and what we should do about it. Then armed with your new found knowledge….

Talk to People

– The biggest misinformation campaign in human history is currently being waged to sow doubt and delay action on climate change. The climate change deniers have the ear of the media and a war chest of millions to spend on lobbyists, PR and Spin Doctors to spread their lies. We have the truth and the numbers on our side. People are much more likely to listen to those they love and respect, which is why it is vital to create millions of conversations on the threat of climate change. I’m sure my friends glaze over when I start prattling on about climate change again, but I reckon trying to save human civilization is a pretty good excuse. Just make sure you’re not too boring or you might not get invited back.

– It’s clear that our leaders have failed to show any leadership in creating meaningful action on climate change. For the sake of our children, grandchildren, all future generations and much of life on earth we must force them to. This can only be achieved by creating a mass social movement committed to creating an unstoppable force powerful enough to defeat the deniers and naysayers. Across the globe people are joining together in their communities to campaign on climate change, educating, discussing, putting pressure on politicians, protesting and engaging in civil disobedience. My local climate group in Moreland is full of inspiring individuals who do incredible things and re-affirm my belief in humanity and our ability to create a different world. Join you local group and connect with amazing people in your area.
