What better way to express your love for that special person in your life than watching the sun set over the Merri Creek whilst enjoying a low emission picnic. No flowers wreathed in pesticides and fertilisers, flown in fresh to the market that morning. No chocolates embittered with the sweat of exploited  peasant farmers from Côte d’Ivoire. No petroleum based candles. Just salad from the garden, bread and locally produced cheeses and a bottle of Moet. Mmmmmm yer ok so the Moet is not very low emission at all – transporting a bottle from Europe produces just under half a kilogram of CO2 compared to less than 50g for an Australian wine. What can I say it was a present – what’s a boy to do?
